Today Is The First Day...BLAH BLAH BLAH

I've been told I'm too opinionated, too rude, and too any number of other things. I know I've promised in the past to tone things down, but, somehow I just keep getting worked up over things that just don't make sense. But, that was then. This is now. And, from now on, I'm simply going to stay away from controversial issues. Just because something irritates me, doesn't mean I should subject you to my rantings and ravings. So, mark your calendars. This is day one of the new, non-opinionated, non-controversial, non-threatening blog.
So, here we go. I know there are so many interesting things we can talk about. Hey, what about this weather we've been having this summer. I don't think it's felt this hot in a year or so. And talk about muggy. We really did have some hot humid days out there this year. Fortunately my home, my car, and my office are air-conditioned, or else I would have been a really sweaty guy. Ha Ha. But, enough about the weather.
Have you heard about all the goings-on at the MTV awards in Florida? How about those hip-hop and rap artists...some people getting shot, others going to jail. You know what I think? I think I'm really very ignorant when it comes to understanding the difference between hip-hop and rap. I probably could be listening to hip-hop and think it was rap, and vice versa, for that matter. In fact, I'm not even sure if hip-hop has a hypen or not. I think I'm pretty "hip" to make a little pun, when it comes to music, and, yet, there's so much I don't know. Go figure.
I stopped at a stoplight the other day and got to thinking, "Gee, this is a kinda long stoplight." So, I looked at the clock in the car. I have one of those radios that also has a clock on it. Anyway, I got to looking at the clock and when the light turned green, I noticed that I'd only been stopped at that "rather long light" for about a minute. I guess that's really not too long, huh? It does seem that sometimes the light stays green for one of the streets longer than it does for the other. At first glance, you may think that's not fair, but, you know, I guess the people that figure these things out know what they're doing. So, who am I to complain. And, when you think about it, without stoplights, I think this would not be as great a nation as it is. I imagine there are some third world countries that don't have any stoplights, so i think I'll just be thankful for what I have.
I was watching the news channels yesterday and it seemed that they sure spent a lot of time talking about Hurricane Katrina. And I got to wondering that if I wrote about it, should I capitalize "hurricane" when I say "Hurricane Katrina." I mean generally you wouldn't capitalize the word "hurricane." But, I wonder if this is like the word "uncle." You know, if I just said, "I have an uncle named Earl," I wouldn't capitalize "uncle." But, if I said, "Uncle Earl, come quickly, I just killed your dog," I would capitalize "uncle." I think. So, anyway, as you can see, I capitalized "hurricane" when I spoke of "Hurricane Katrina." Words are interesting that way, aren't they?
You know, I think we've spent some quality time together today. I've elaborated on any number of very interesting topics and I didn't (hopefully) tick anyone off. I hate to tick someone off, because then they might get mad at me and say something to tick me off, and before you know it, I've kneed them in the groin (see my previous blog). And, if I'm not careful, I could end up dislocating my knee. And, I can only imagine how that would feel.
